Responsibilities

Accountable for all aspects of Project Management, including monitoring construction contract compliance and coordinating services in support of campus departments to ensure the construction phases of projects are on schedule, high-quality, cost-effective, and tailored to the project's needs
Involves all elements of Project Management from cost estimating through construction closeout, including initial budgeting, safety compliance, and contract compliance
Works with the Program Managers, Senior Project Managers and Construction Managers to organize, plan, and control the construction efforts on projects
Selecting general contractors and subcontractors, as well as coordinating construction activities across multiple project sites, including construction inspectors and other project-related personnel
Responsible for monitoring project progress and quality, resolving highly complex problems that arise in the projects, and working with Campus officials to ensure compliance and safety
First-line responsibility to communicate effectively with project stakeholders regarding construction impacts and schedules
Perform the highest complexity of projects with a project portfolio of up to 40M, including Wet Lab, Dry Lab, Animal Care and Clinical work
Expectations to train and mentor associate project managers on the team, including process and procedures, project management, strategy, and technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle
Responsible for all aspects of the design and construction of highly complex, significant projects and/or highly specialized and critical components within these projects
Exercises independent judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining satisfactory results and may oversee, manage, supervise, or provide guidance to other Project Managers and/or Analysts

Required

Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
7+ years of relevant progressive experience
Architectural/Engineering/PMP / or equivalent experience/training
OSHA-30
Advanced and or specialized knowledge of building and construction, design, construction contract administration and California Building Codes, including advanced understanding of industry practices, or deep expertise in a highly specialized and critical discipline
Advanced project management skills to effectively manage highly complex projects, or highly specialized and critical project components
Advanced and/or specialized knowledge of the organization, including its infrastructure, rules, regulations, policies, and short and long-range strategic building plans
Advanced analytical, organizational and problem recognition/avoidance/resolution skills
Advanced written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including highly effective negotiation skills and highly developed political acumen
Advanced ability to manage contractors and maintain compliance to the agreed-upon scope of work and budget
