MRI Research Technologist

Responsibilities

Performing advanced MR research studies in the UCSF Human Imaging Research Core, solving procedural and technical problems as they arise, and assisting the researchers in analyzing and archiving MR image data
Performing imaging studies in the research environment, including injections, safe handling and proper disposal of contrast agents possibly including radiopharmaceuticals
Helping to expand successful research programs at the China Basin imaging center and at Byers Hall, including outreach to new investigators, planning new studies, and interaction with the clinic scheduling to increase usage of the MR
Providing technical knowledge and/or coordinating the delivery of MRI services
Operating a variety of equipment including high field strength magnets and support systems with MRI safety as a priority
Responsible for patient coordination, acquisition, processing, and archiving of all patient data
Training new staff as well as existing staff on new technologies
Maintaining and operating equipment according to manufacturer’s specifications, reporting all problems appropriately
Overseeing provision of MRI services and staffing coverage in absence of the MR Supervisor

Required

Graduate of a formal radiology technology training program in an AMA approved school
Minimum 3 years' experience with high field magnetic resonance system
Flexibility in scheduling, ability to rotate shifts as well as coverage for weekends and holidays
Flexibility to rotate to other sites when necessary
Be able to perform 3 out of the 6 specialty scans
Cardiac Imaging
Fetal Imaging
Whole body Pediatric scans
Special procedures ( HIFU/DBS etc.)
Pediatric/Adult Anesthesia
Breast Imaging
ARRT approved MRI Certification
BLS (CPR) Certification
Venipuncture Certification

Preferred

Recent work experience in an acute care setting
CRT Licensure
MRSO
