Responsibilities
Responsible for geotechnical inspections
Performs oversight inspections and audits to ensure that the Work is compliant with Plans, Specifications, Quality Control Plans, and all other required provisions
Perform field surveillance of quality procedures, verification of corrective actions for quality findings, review of testing, inspection, and sampling documents
Review of quality control and quality assurance records
Required to prepare and submit detailed daily work records in accordance with NYSDOT Manual of Uniform Record Keeping (MURK)or other form(s) approved by the Port Authority
Review technical drawings and other engineering data; ensure structures are built according to specifications
Conduct site visits and investigations, analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations
Qualification
Required
Has excellent communication and writing skills
Possesses a thorough knowledge of construction processes
Has excellent Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to navigate through company internet-based systems
Ability to work in adverse weather conditions
Must be physically able to perform moderately strenuous tasks which include walking along rough terrain, climbing ladders, and lifting up to 50 pounds
Proactive self-starter capable of setting a positive example for the staff
Minimum of five years of experience in off-site fabrication and/or on-site erection of steel structures
Responsible for geotechnical inspections
Performs oversight inspections and audits to ensure that the Work is compliant with Plans, Specifications, Quality Control Plans, and all other required provisions

Preferred
AWS (American Welding Society) Certification as Welding Inspector (CWI) is highly desired but not a must
Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) experience is highly desired but not a must
International Code Council (ICC) bolting inspector certification is highly desired but not a must
