COMPUTER SCIENTIST
The Defense Information Systems Agency is seeking a Computer Scientist to support the mission of the US Cyber Command. This role involves developing advanced computer science concepts and software systems, while ensuring security and system design compliance.

Responsibilities
Develop new and improved concepts, principles, and techniques that will advance the body of knowledge of computer science, and adapt and apply advanced computer science methods and techniques to solve complex computer processing requirements
Develop software systems using an expert knowledge of techniques, procedures, and processes such as operating system theory, data structures, computer system architecture, software engineering, and computer communications
Develop integrated computer systems using a technical expert knowledge of computer software concepts
Utilize knowledge in security tools such as firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, and Security Information and Event Management
Perform duties that demonstrate a solid background in systems design, software development, and systems analysis
Qualification
Required
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service
This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment
In accordance with DoD 8140 policy series, the position is subjected to completing Foundational Qualifications in 9 months and completing Residential Qualification requirements in 12 months
Travel is Occasional
Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) as a condition of employment
Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science
At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus
All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions
To qualify at the GG-13, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position
Experience utilizing knowledge in securing network architectures, operating systems, and applications, along with a strong understanding of encryption, authentication, and access control mechanisms; OR, demonstrating knowledge in techniques and processes related to operating system theory, data structures, computer system architecture, software engineering, and computer communications
