Responsibilities

Serves as a senior Financial Management Specialist instructing others in specific tasks and job techniques

Checks work in progress and reviews completed work

Provides on the job training to new employees and employees in trainee positions

Provides requirements and participates in automation projects related to automated financial systems

Assists in the design of new and revised financial management and accounting automated processes

Participates in the quality assurance and internal management control program for financial management

Conducts quality assurance activities by studying accounts, reports, and procedures in the financial management systems

Advises on financial management issues and provides the information management needs to make decisions regarding effective and efficient use of resources

Ensures that all obligations are properly and timely recorded, adjusted, and liquidated in the financial management and accounting system

Obtain/Maintain Financial Management Certification Level 2

Must be able to obtain/maintain security clearance

For entry at the GS-12 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-11 or higher grade in the Federal Service

For the GS-12, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-11 if outside the Federal service

Experience identifying, analyzing, and resolving a wide range of financial and accounting problems; or experience utilizing financial systems to research and analyze data
