Amazon is seeking a Sr Electrical Engineer for its Amazon Leo low Earth orbit satellite network. The role involves leading process development and root cause analysis while working on production processes for next-generation spacecraft modules.

Responsibilities

Conceptualize, design, develop, and improve production processes (assembly, integration, test processes) through collaboration/leadership of a team of manufacturing engineers

Serve as a technical lead on failure analysis. Drive yield improvement through process change

Develops standard rework procedures, test coverage improvements, and board-level DFM feedback

Investigate and introduce new manufacturing test technology and methodology to enhance production efficiency

On the shop floor, working with production teams to implement new processes, review & solve key technical blockers in production, performing production development testing, etc

Independent development work such as deep diving on available data sets to identify and implement key production improvement actions, acting on quality escapes by developing and implementing new quality control measures, developing & executing to existing roadmaps for capacity increase, process simplification, etc

Meeting settings, collaborating with others on topics such as new design introductions, production process change management, production solution finding reviews, etc

Mentorship settings with other engineers on the team, performing collaborative work & coaching to develop the team members skillsets, while ensuring common team execution to your technical vision

Required

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent

Experience with analog, digital, and high-speed circuit design

Experience in CAD skills, including being capable of developing an integrated automation layout unassisted

7+ years of experience with electro-optical hardware development, including analog/mixed-signal design

Experience with PCB design and debugging, including amplifiers, FPGAs, photodiodes, ADCs, sensors

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Preferred

MS or PhD in Electrical with 5+ years' industry experience

Demonstrated understanding of quality metrics, process characterization and mapping, Product Quality / Reliability / Improvement techniques, LEAN Manufacturing, DFM/DFT, and Continuous Process Improvement

Understand Design for Testability, Design for Manufacturability

4+ years of embedded firmware development experience
