Responsibilities

Study specifications, such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualize product to determine materials required and machines and other processes to be used to fabricate parts
Compute dimensions, plan lay-outs, and determine assembly methods and sequence of operations
Set up and operate machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC machines to produce components, and verify conformance of machined parts to specifications
Use skills and processes to ensure products meet specifications concerning size accuracy, performance, finishes and other operational and quality characteristics
Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances, using measuring instruments, such as dial indicators, gage blocks, thickness gages, and micrometers
Heat-treat tools or parts
Connect wiring, hydraulic and pneumatic lines to install components and circuits
Analyze designs and make recommendations for design modifications regarding construction and function of parts
Communicate with customers as requested to ensure product accuracy and quality
Maintain area and department in a safe, clean and orderly manner

Required

Die repair from start to support operations
Familiar with all tool room equipment, machinery and procedures
Knowledge of types of raw materials and their respective applications, such as heat treating and appropriate coatings
Ability to perform or lead all aspects of the die repair process
Study specifications, such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualize product to determine materials required and machines and other processes to be used to fabricate parts
Compute dimensions, plan lay-outs, and determine assembly methods and sequence of operations
Set up and operate machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC machines to produce components, and verify conformance of machined parts to specifications
Use skills and processes to ensure products meet specifications concerning size accuracy, performance, finishes and other operational and quality characteristics

High School Diploma with some formal training in a specific field
Minimum of 2 years Tool Room experience in progressive/transfer die repair and/or hold a Journeyman Card
Machining on all machine tools
Ability to safely operate manufacturing related equipment
Ability to read, interpret and analyze prints and/or computer based CAD plans and models
Able to work under pressure and prioritize project requirements
