Responsibilities
Lead centralized, cross-channel policy communications strategy across earned media, advocacy, campaigns, marketing, and social media to support legislative and regulatory priorities
Serve as the primary communications partner to government relations, legal advocacy, and campaign teams, ensuring unified messaging and shared goals
Shape and deploy compelling public narratives that connect on-the-ground programmatic work to broader policy objectives
Provide strategic counsel and real-time decision-making during breaking news, legislative shifts, and emerging policy moments
Oversee day-to-day policy communications priorities, balancing proactive campaigns with rapid-response needs
Build and maintain strong relationships with national, state, and local media covering policy, agriculture, animal welfare, and related beats
Pitch stories, develop press materials, oversee op-eds, and prepare subject-matter experts for media engagement; serve as spokesperson as needed
Collaborate across departments to plan and execute integrated advocacy campaigns that educate, motivate, and mobilize supporters
Guide annual and project-based shared goal setting across communications, policy, and campaign teams
Translate complex policy issues into clear, engaging messaging for policymakers, media, donors, and the public
Track policy and legislative developments to proactively adjust communications strategies and priorities
