Human Factors Engineer, Screens and Virtual Controls

Responsibilities
Review UI screen designs in Figma across Operating Systems and prioritized domains to perform Human Factors evaluations throughout design deliverable gates
Translate evaluation findings into actionable design recommendations that enhance customer usability and shape the in-vehicle screen and virtual control experience
Partner closely with UI Designers to proactively apply Human Factors Best Practices, Design Systems and Control Strategy Plan adhering to known automotive safety standards and regulatory guidance
Provide and synthesize customer data, including lessons learned, to support Design rationale & Product Management roadmaps, strategies and Product Requirement Documents (PRD)
Request and coordinate customer clinics or surveys collaborating with Human Factors Usability, Design Research and Global Customer Research teams to gather customer insights when needed
Participate in regular Vehicle Operating System Design review meetings contributing to discussions and decisions while focusing on customer usability and intuitive interaction
Engage in Program Management analysis meetings and ensure accurate tracking of Human Factors recommendations in Jira capability and design tickets
Communicate issues within Human Factors Triage, Escalation and Director meetings to drive resolution
Serve as the liaison for Human Factors Vehicle Programs by providing status updates on customer reach and visibility of in-screen control content
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Human Factors, User Experience design, Engineering or related field
3+ years of experience in Human Factors, HMI design or User Experience
Strong understanding of human factors principles and automotive HMI design
Ability to translate user research into actionable design requirements
Proficiency in problem-solving with excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills
Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with the ability to partner with cross-functional teams and lead discussions
Preferred
Master's degree
Experience with Figma or similar design tools
Proficiency in Jira for tracking tasks and supporting workflow documentation
Hands on experience using NX or TcVIS
Knowledge of automotive HMI standards including ISO, SAE and FMVSS
