AI Lab General Manager
Microsoft is committed to making the world a safer place through its Security organization and is seeking an AI Lab General Manager to help launch the Greenwood Cyber + AI Lab. This role involves leading the operational and strategic direction of the lab, overseeing day-to-day operations, and fostering partnerships to drive secure AI research and innovation.

Responsibilities
Manage lab operations, including compute resource allocation, security compliance, and cost efficiency
Implement staffing models and engineering support processes to ensure agility and scalability
Integrate lab initiatives with Microsoft’s security product roadmap and AI safety objectives
Drive programs that support national cyber resilience and global security priorities
Build and manage internship, fellowship, and full-time pipelines with universities and community organizations
Champion diversity and inclusion in technical hiring and workforce development
Cultivate relationships with startups, academic institutions, and government partners
Organize joint research initiatives, technical workshops, and collaborative projects
Keep the program in good standing with the requirements of federal grant funding
Provide secure environments for AI model testing, threat research, and rapid prototyping
Accelerate production integration for customer-driven projects
Define success metrics, track prototype velocity and integration milestones, and report progress to leadership with transparency and accountability
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience
1+ years people management experience
3+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects
Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
Preferred
Bachelor's Degree AND 12+ years experience engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience
4+ years people management experience
8+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects
Proven experience managing technical labs or R&D environments
Demonstrated background in cybersecurity and AI/ML technologies
Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex stakeholder relationships
Familiarity with compliance, privacy, and risk management in high-security contexts
Experience with public-private partnerships and ecosystem development
Knowledge of GPU infrastructure and AI model lifecycle management
Expertise in building talent pipelines and fostering inclusive innovation
