3+ years expTextron Systems is looking for talented Structural Designers to support the Sea Systems organization. This role involves creating and checking technical content and data packages for various components and sub-assemblies of Sea products, ensuring compliance with Military, ASME, and Company standards.

Responsibilities
Creation of mechanical solid models from conceptual sketches, specification sheets and verbal direction
Receive, create, and record JIRA tickets for tracking of assignments
Translation of engineering requirements to source and vendor control documentation
Cataloging of vendor and supplier-controlled components, models, and specifications
Release of specifications, drawings, and ECNs within the MATRIX system (Product Lifecycle Management Tool)
Interface with Product engineers, Manufacturing engineers and Machinists to produce accurate product representations and incorporate design for manufacturability feedback
Participate in design review meetings
Perform tolerance calculations (“tolerance stacks”) of detail parts and sub-assemblies
Development of component and subassembly drawings to ASME Y14 standards, inclusive of all planforms, sectional and isometric views, notes and GD&T
Generation of production drawings for multiple manufacturing methods; including machining, sheet metal forming and weldments
Checking of drawings per company and ASME Y14 standards
Qualification
Required
Associates Degree in Drafting and Design Technology, or equivalent
3 Plus years experience in a common solid modeling software package, with Solidworks and AutoCAD required
Ability to visualize components and assemblies in 3D
Knowledge of drafting principals
Familiarity with and ability to check drawings to ASME Y14 standards
Working knowledge and use of ASME Y14.5-2009 (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) applications and fundamentals
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products - Word, Excel, Outlook
Highly organized and efficient
Driving tasks to completion independently
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Preferred
Experience as a mechanical designer, with commercial or military hardware design and integration experience
