Electrical Engineer
EVONA is a fast-growing robotics company operating in the space and aerospace sector, seeking an Electrical Engineer to design and integrate electronics for advanced robotic systems. The role involves hands-on work throughout the product lifecycle, contributing to hardware that will operate in space.
Responsibilities
Design and integrate embedded electronics for teleoperated robotic systems, with a focus on reliability in microgravity environments
Take electronic designs from concept through to production-ready PCBs, collaborating closely with mechanical and software teams
Develop and optimise embedded firmware for motor control, sensors, and communication interfaces
Design power systems including battery packs, battery management systems, regulation, and power distribution
Integrate actuators, sensors, and communication hardware into a cohesive robotic platform
Select and integrate COTS hardware such as sensors, motor drivers, ESCs, and embedded compute
Prototype and test custom PCBs for control, sensing, safety, and low-voltage systems
Implement safety mechanisms including watchdogs, failsafes, thermal limits, and hard kill systems
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
Strong experience with PCB design and circuit prototyping using tools such as Altium, Eagle, or KiCad
Hands-on experience with embedded systems and Linux-based platforms (e.g. STM32, Jetson, Raspberry Pi)
Solid background in power electronics, battery systems, and low-power embedded design
Proficiency in C and/or C++ and Python for hardware integration and control
Preferred
Experience with ROS and real-time motor control
Exposure to EMI/EMC testing or radiation-tolerant electronics
Background in control systems, kinematics, or actuator dynamics
Experience mentoring or leading engineers
Benefits
Meaningful equity as an early-stage team member
Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision
Access to advanced hardware, tools, and a fast-moving engineering environment
The opportunity to work on technology that will be deployed in orbit
