Responsibilities

Develop and support firmware for embedded IoT sensors used in freight rail applications
Implement low-power management strategies for battery-powered, remote devices
Integrate and optimise wireless communication protocols, including LoRa and BLE
Design and refine filtering and signal processing solutions for noisy, industrial conditions
Debug and resolve system-level issues across firmware and hardware boundaries
Contribute to firmware standards, including code quality, testing, and documentation
Collaborate with hardware and product teams on system-level design decisions
Support continuous improvement by evaluating new technologies and approaches

Required

5+ years' experience in embedded firmware development
Hands-on experience with low-power embedded systems
Practical experience with LoRa and BLE in production environments
Strong proficiency in C/C++ on embedded platforms (e.g. ARM Cortex-M)
Experience working with RTOS and/or bare-metal systems
Solid debugging skills using oscilloscopes, JTAG, and similar tools

Preferred

Exposure to Zephyr RTOS
Experience with signal processing or vibration analysis
Background working on IoT or sensor-based products
Experience taking products from concept through production
