Responsibilities

You will play a lead role ensuring P4G’s strategy meets our results framework. This includes ensuring P4G’s internal incentives are aligned with delivering results against targets, identifying synergies across targets and country/global work, and ensuring coherence across our portfolio of work. The successful candidate will have experience setting up internal management processes, breaking down institutional silos, and bringing together different organizational parts to deliver results in a joined-up coherent manner
Mentoring and coaching colleagues on best practices for strategy, team work, culture and development
Aligning marketing efforts with overall business strategy
Work as part of P4G’s leadership team to drive alignment across P4G’s member countries and with the broader WRI institutional strategy
Help facilitate regular strategy discussions at the leadership and staff level to monitor progress against the strategy and trigger adjustments as needed
Advise on how to better align P4G’s internal structure and decision-making processes with delivering results against the strategy
Periodically convene thought leaders from across WRI to conduct horizon scanning to identify emerging opportunities and challenges
Continuously explore ways to deepen P4G’s engagement with prospective donors including mapping a list of prospective funders from governments, philanthropies or the private sector
Providing strategic guidance to team members on campaign strategies and business development
Share guidance on P4G’s growth and scaling strategy
Develop internal fundraising processes and materials
Create and populate fundraising development and tracking template
Run bi-weekly fundraising meetings and maintain fundraising templates
Assist in the development of additional proposals as the opportunities arise during this employment period
Pipeline and opportunity generation: actively scan for and identify opportunities to apply for funding aligned with P4G’s overall strategy and growth plan
Managing the pipeline of potential business development opportunities
Identifying and nurturing leads to convert them into viable business development prospects
Collaborating with in country team members to ensure a steady flow of opportunities
Participate in calls and conversations with prospective P4G funders or collaborative partners to understand the potential alignment with P4G and the specific value add that aligns with P4G’s overall growth options strategy
Lead on a proposal management timeline and writing new proposals for P4G as the opportunity arises. Assign writers as needed within the existing P4G team for sections of the proposal and manage authors and the proposal timeline. Lead on getting input from the P4G team and select external stakeholders as needed for the proposal. Provide feedback to section authors to maintain the consistency of narrative and clarity
Project manage or support special discrete projects with defined timelines as assigned. This will include the development of workplans and timelines with key milestones as well as developing and tracking budgets
Provide clear guidance and coordination to internal WRI teams and external partners to ensure their compliance with WRI’s internal processes and systems as well as workplans
Manage project close-outs including after-action reviews and lessons learned

Required

Bachelor's degree or higher in international development, international relations, fundraising or an equivalent proposal writing intensive discipline. Additional years of experience can be considered in lieu of a degree
Minimum of 12 years of experience, with background as a senior manager of major campaigns for large global not-for-profit, civil society, governmental or for-profit organizations
Experience directly managing large, complex teams across geographies, as well experience in roles that do not involve direct staff management and require sophisticated skills in indirect coordination, influence and execution across a large institution
Significant experience and/or certifications in leadership, coaching, management
Demonstrated experience in leading multi-disciplinary campaigns and development teams that cut across technical areas, including in depth knowledge of the tools, systems and methodologies used by business development professionals at leading global organizations
Knowledge of and experience working in sectors related to climate change and environment, and/or any of the sub-sectors in which P4G and WRI focus. Experience working in low-and-middle income economies
Skilled at developing and managing proposal materials from initial opportunity identification through to review and final submittal across multiple donors
Demonstrated experience managing proposals that includes all aspects of proposal management, including team assignments and management as well as the hands-on work of writing and meeting the specific proposal requirements for international development activities across multiple philanthropic, bilateral and multilateral donor organizations
Demonstrated success in pursuing and securing business development opportunities across multiple bilateral, philanthropic, or corporate funders
Skilled at writing and editing for a broad audience including country and philanthropic donors, businesses and policymakers
Strong analytical, review and copyediting skills
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work quickly and meet tight deadlines
Ability to provide constructive feedback to authors
Strong eye for detail and ability to track and monitor changing timelines
Comfortable working in multicultural environment across different time zones
Excellent verbal and written English proficiency
Existing work authorization in your country of residence which must be in a country where WRI/P4G has existing operations

Preferred

Ideal candidate would also have considerable experience in international program implementation in development in low to middle income countries
Specific trainings in business development for international development audiences including ideally EU-based bi-lateral or multi-lateral agencies, large corporations, and philanthropic funding
