Senior Non-Destructive Test Engineer
Apera is partnered with a promising clean-sheet development program in the aerospace sector. They are seeking a Senior Non-Destructive Test Engineer to lead the NDT planning, execution, and inspection processes, ensuring the safety and performance of aircraft components.
Responsibilities
Take the lead on how metallic and composite aircraft parts are inspected using NDT
Choose, develop, and roll out the right inspection methods for composites, bonded structures, and metals
Use and refine techniques like ultrasonics, X-ray, eddy current, penetrant, and magnetic particle testing
Create and sign off on inspection procedures, plans, and reports used across the program
Work closely with design, manufacturing, quality, and suppliers to solve inspection and defect issues
Support certification efforts and help guide inspections through FAA Part 23 requirements
Act as a technical mentor and go-to expert for junior NDT engineers
Qualification
Required
5+ years of relevant NDT experience in aerospace or related industry
Strong knowledge of non-metallic inspection processes (metallic a plus)
Experience planning, executing, and documenting NDT inspections, including data collection and validation
Familiarity with aerospace certification requirements
Excellent communication, organization, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Preferred
ASNT Level II or III certification is a plus
