Responsibilities

Conduct routine and complex tests on clinical specimens in the microbiology laboratory including mycology, bacteriology, and parasitology

Troubleshoot instruments and methods

Perform all quality control procedures and assist in the evaluation of new equipment, reagents and methodologies

Function as a working Technologist who also assumes some responsibilities for the supervision and coordination of the activities of laboratory personnel in the performance of quantitative and qualitative tests, under the supervision of the Chief or Lead Technologist and Laboratory Manager

Relieve Chief or Lead Technologist during temporary absences

Qualification

Microbiology experienceClinical Laboratory TechnologistASCP certificationBachelor’s degree in Medical TechnologyNew York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist license

Required

Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or equivalent curriculum

New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist license from the New York State Education Department

Must obtain the License within 6 months of hire

Preferred

Microbiology experience

2 years of Clinical Laboratory Technologist experience

ASCP certification
