The role involves managing the debt recovery process, leading a team of collections specialists, and developing effective collection strategies to ensure timely payments and financial stability.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage a team of collections specialists, setting performance targets and providing training to ensure competency development so team is proficient in collections
Develop and implement effective collection strategies to minimize outstanding debts
Work with customers to resolve escalated disputes and complex accounts. Negotiate payment plans with clients
Approves new account, order, and contract according to credit policies, recommends and approve bad debt write offs, manage liens and bond claims, and review bankruptcies and file proof of claims
Prepare and present reports on collection activities and financial performance. Monitor accounts receivable and analyze collection trends to improve efficiency

Required

5+ years of progressive and successful experience in collections or accounts receivable management
3+ years leadership experience in a collections or finance-related role
Knowledge gained through a bachelor's degree; preferably in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
Strong communication and negotiation skills
Leadership and team management abilities
Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of financial regulations and debt collection practices
Ability to handle difficult conversations with professionalism and empathy
Understanding of credit policies and collection laws
Familiarity with accounting principles and financial reporting
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong project management and organization skills
