Senior Branch Leader – Business Development Specialist
The Bank of Southside Virginia is a locally owned, full-service community bank dedicated to providing exceptional customer service and fostering community growth. The Senior Branch Leader – Business Development Specialist is responsible for driving branch growth, profitability, and community presence through strategic business development, relationship management, and leadership excellence.

Responsibilities
Cultivate new customer relationships in partnership with Business Development Officers and community partners
Execute a proactive outreach strategy, including business development calls to new and existing customers
Drive market growth in deposits and loans; maintain working expertise in consumer and small business lending
Deepen existing relationships through consistent follow-up, needs discovery, and solution alignment
Serve as a visible ambassador for the bank by participating in approximately 40 hours of bank-sponsored community events annually
Join and actively participate in a local community club/chamber; identify strategic partnership opportunities
Support financial literacy and outreach initiatives; recommend sponsorship opportunities aligned to market needs
Lead market execution aligned to organizational goals; coach and develop branch teams and subordinate branch leaders
Support performance management, career development, and succession readiness; recommend promotions based on performance
Assist with training and onboarding of new Branch Leaders, reinforcing consistent expectations and follow-through
Ensure adherence to all policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements while maintaining strong service and sales discipline
Maintain expert knowledge of bank products and services; build team capability to identify needs and recommend appropriate solutions
Model sound risk management practices and escalate issues promptly and appropriately
Qualification
Required
Demonstrated leadership success in retail banking, business development, and relationship management
Proven ability to execute outbound calling/prospecting strategies and deliver measurable growth outcomes
Strong working knowledge of consumer and small business lending fundamentals
Commitment to community engagement and brand representation
3 years of Retail Banking in a management role
Preferred
Experience mentoring multi-level teams and coaching other leaders
Established local network (business and community organizations) and track record of partnership development
