Legislative Coordinator / State Program Administrative Senior

Government Administration
Responsibilities
Coordinate legislative proposal development, technical assistance requests and agency responses, and fiscal note preparation, and ensure accuracy and timeliness
Facilitate communication between agency leadership and legislative bodies
Manage legislative training and informational sessions
Conduct research and analysis to inform legislative strategy
Manage online technology solutions for the Government Relations Team
Monitor legislative hearings
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Two (2) years of experience in a position supporting or engaging in legislative advocacy or policy development at the state, local, or federal level
Effective project management skills sufficient to lead policy staff and leadership through various complex processes, including proposal development, hearing/testimony preparation, and preparing reports to the legislature
Strong informal leadership skills and experience directing leadership and colleagues to meet established timelines and work product quality requirements
Knowledge of human services concepts, programs, roles, and functions of state government, as well as of the county and local delivery system
Demonstrated high-quality writing skills exhibited through preparation of legislation, clear and concise fact sheets, talking points, briefing packets, reports, presentations, and correspondence for legislators and/or upper management
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
Understanding of the legislative process and timelines in Minnesota
Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures
