The Traffic Sign Installation Supervisor will oversee the sign installation and pavement marking section, ensuring effective resource management and compliance with standards and schedules.

Responsibilities

Prioritizes, schedules and assigns work to be completed in accordance with productivity standards

Monitors work underway, resolves technical problems and ensures compliance with policies, standards and schedules

Monitors contract work underway for compliance with contract terms and specifications, approves progress payments and recommends approval of final payments

Ensures that traffic controls in construction and maintenance work zones are appropriate for the traffic characteristics and work operations underway, and develops traffic control plans for construction detours

Prepares reports accounting for materials, man-hours and equipment used on projects

Requisitions materials for signing and marking operations and approves use of materials from stock

Receives and investigates public inquiries regarding signs or markings and takes necessary corrective actions

Coordinates with utility companies prior to installation to assure utility line clearances

Required

Six months experience in interpreting blueprints, schematics or technical drawings

Six months experience in traffic sign installation

Six months experience in inventory control which includes ordering, receiving, tracking, storing and handling inventory; disbursing materials, supplies and equipment

Six months experience in interpreting the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) requirements

Knowledge of estimating cost, time and materials for projects

Knowledge of staff supervision acquired through course work, academic training, training provided through an employer, or performing as a lead worker overseeing the work of others; OR supervising staff which may include planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others; OR supervising through subordinate supervisors a group of professional, technical, and clerical employees
