Responsibilities
Underwrite Non-QM wholesale mortgage loans, including but not limited to Bank Statement, 1099, P&L, DSCR, ITIN, WVOE, 2nd's, and Asset Depletion products
Review and analyze borrower creditworthiness, income, assets, collateral, and overall loan risk
Issue clear, accurate underwriting decisions and conditions consistent with investor and company guidelines
Communicate effectively with brokers, account executives, and operations teams to resolve loan issues and meet turn-time expectations
Maintain high quality and accuracy standards to minimize post-close findings and repurchase risk
Stay current on Non-QM guideline updates, overlays, and market trends
Participate in audits, quality control reviews, and process improvement initiatives
Qualification
Required
Minimum 5 years of mortgage underwriting experience, with strong emphasis on Non-QM products
Proven experience underwriting complex income scenarios and layered risk files
Ability to make sound credit decisions independently with limited oversight
Proficiency in LOS systems (e.g., Encompass)
Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and documentation standards
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred
High productivity in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Ability to manage multiple files while meeting SLA and turn-time goals
Collaborative mindset with a broker-focused, customer-service approach
Adaptability to evolving guidelines and business priorities
