PCB Manufacturing Engineer (Electronics/Electro-Mechanical)
Randstad, in partnership with McIntosh Laboratories, is seeking a highly skilled PCB Manufacturing Engineer to ensure exceptional quality in high-end audio production. This role focuses on the PCB lifecycle, bridging electrical design and manufacturing processes to drive efficiency and premium standards.
Responsibilities
PCB Life Cycle Management: Lead all PC board development and production activities, including item master generation, PCB drawing creation, SMD stencil drawings, prototype board request management, and engineering change management (ECOs)
Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Collaborate closely with design engineering from concept through launch to ensure smooth transition from prototype (NPI) to high-volume production, specifically optimizing PCB designs for high-yield assembly
Process Development & Improvement: Develop, document, and continuously improve assembly and test processes for electronic and electro-mechanical audio products, focusing on soldering, component placement, and final board testing
Tooling & Fixturing: Specify, design, and implement advanced jigs, fixtures, and production tooling for PCB assembly and handling to enhance assembly consistency and worker ergonomics
Root Cause Analysis: Monitor manufacturing performance, leading root cause investigations and corrective actions to resolve quality or yield problems, particularly related to solder joint quality, component placement, and board fabrication defects
Process Analysis: Conduct time studies, process capability analysis, and workflow optimization to implement Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives, reducing waste and improving yield
Documentation: Establish and validate process documentation, including detailed work instructions, routings, and Bill of Materials (BOM) validation
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
1–5 years of progressive experience in manufacturing engineering, with a strong focus on electronics or electro-mechanical assembly environments
Proven experience introducing new products to production (NPI) and creating supporting documentation
Proficiency with ECAD tools (e.g., Altium Designer, OrCAD) and experience with ERP/MRP systems
Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, process control, and failure analysis techniques, especially as applied to PCB assembly
Exceptional hands-on mechanical and electrical aptitude with a passion for precision assembly and craftsmanship
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, coupled with excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
Preferred
MCAD familiarity (e.g., SolidWorks) is a plus
