ASSISTANT OPERATIONS MANAGER OF ELECTRIC DIVISION
NEOGOV is seeking an Assistant Operations Manager for their Electric Division at the City of Gastonia. This role involves managing daily operations, overseeing project activities, coordinating emergency response plans, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities
Supervises staff by assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, ensuring training, enforcing policies and procedures, maintaining a safe work environment, and assisting with hiring, discipline, and termination decisions, applying sound managerial principles and supervisory practices
Coordinates and manages projects with division supervisors and contractors; provides consultation, attends meetings, visits work sites, maintains records, and prepares reports, utilizing effective project management skills and knowledge of electric transmission and distribution systems
Assists in developing the annual budget and monitors and approves expenditures in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations
Supports the Power Systems Engineer and consultants by providing study information, assisting with contract negotiations, and contributing to the modernization and maintenance of electric utilities facilities using knowledge of utility infrastructure
Coordinates emergency activities and implements emergency response plans, applying conflict resolution skills and emergency coordination practices
Provides customer service by resolving complaints professionally and maintaining effective communication with coworkers, supervisors, other City employees, and the general public
Conducts audits to ensure inventory is properly accounted for and available, utilizing organizational skills and attention to detail
Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations governing electric utility operations and division activities
Utilizes computer systems and software applications, including Microsoft Office products and Outage Management Systems, to support division operations and reporting requirements
Qualification
Required
Associate's degree or higher in electrical engineering, public utility management, business administration or a related field
Extensive experience in electric utility systems, including significant supervisory or management experience
A combination of education, training, and relevant work experience will be considered
Experience in project management and coordination is preferred; municipal electric systems experience is highly desirable
Complete NIMS IS-200, IS-300, IS-400 and IS-700 within 12 months of hire
Valid driver's license
