The NYS Office of Information Technology Services is responsible for providing technology services to customer agencies. The Manager of Information Technology Services 1 Operations will assist in managing a data center, ensuring 24/7 service and supervising staff while developing technical plans and procedures.

Responsibilities

Develops, implements and maintains technical plans

Responds to systems disruptions, developing solutions to problems and consulting with technical staff and users to evaluate and implement the solutions

Manages and escalates problems and notifies management, Technical Support, Help Desk, and customers as documented

Develops procedures, standards, and internal controls

Supervises data center staff, including the development of performance programs

Directs, deploys, trains, motivates, and develops staff in order to make maximum use of staff's existing abilities

Makes recommendations on hardware and software acquisitions; and

Performs the full range of supervisory duties

Required

Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as a Manager Information Technology Services 1 (Operations), SG27/M2, OR in a position at the SG25 or M1 level or higher deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law

The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in advancement of more than two salary grades or one M-grade

Candidates must be reachable on the current eligible list for this title in order to be list appointed

ITS will not offer permanent employment to any candidate unless the candidate provides documentation that they are authorized to accept work in the United States on a permanent basis

It is the policy of ITS not to hire F1 or H1 visa holders for permanent employment or to sponsor non-immigrant aliens for temporary work authorization visas or for permanent residence
