Responsibilities

Install, configure, and support network equipment including routers, firewalls, switches, and WAPs
Design and/or implement standard or custom technical solutions
Participate in operational escalations to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and replace defective components when necessary
Investigate faults in network to include but are not limited to packet loss, bandwidth issues, outages
Procure network equipment and manage subcontractors involved with network installations
Maximize network performance through proactive monitoring and troubleshooting
Participate in implementation of network and system security measures to protect data, software, and hardware
Create relevant documentation as required (including but not limited to conceptual design, logical design, physical design, bill of materials, as-built diagrams, knowledge transfer materials, FAQs, transition to operations information)
Participate in gathering data pertaining to customer needs, and use the information to identify, predict, interpret, and evaluate system and network requirements
Participate in recommending changes to improve systems and network configurations in client environments, and determine hardware or software requirements

Required

4+ years of experience in an IT environment with network architecture design and deployment
Experience with networking and security
Ability to provide ongoing support, maintenance, and training on the implemented systems
Ability to perform network assessments and design recommendations
Strong troubleshooting skills to resolve network issues
Understanding of: Routing protocols OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, and static routing
Understanding of: OSI Model, DNS, DHCP, IPSEC, SSL VPN, HSRP, VRRP, VSS, IPSLA, SD-WAN
Understanding of: Firewalls, IPS/IDS, Palo Alto
Understanding of: TCP/IP, IPSEC Site to Site VPN, GRE, DMVPN, Client VPN, NAT, VRF technologies
Understanding of: Data Center technologies such as VPC, VDC, FcoE, FC, virtual switching
Understanding of: Cisco IOS and NXOS
Understanding of: Cisco Meraki and Viptela
Understanding of: Layer 2 Technologies such as switching, VLAN, spanning tree
Understanding of: Layer 3 Routing protocols: MPLS, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF
Understanding of: Software-defined Networking (SDN)
Understanding of: Wireless design and configuration
Understanding of: Network monitoring solutions

Preferred

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
Experience working with Avaya
