Fabricator will select piece from lot and read specifications for size of hole(s) to be drilled
One at a time the fabricator will select the appropriate bit and insert in drill press
Process will be repeated until all required holes are drilled
For larger holes a hole saw is used instead of a bit
For some holes as many as three holes may have to be drilled – a pilot, then a little larger, then a final size
After holes are drilled, operator will use countersink bit to deburr both sides of the piece
After deburring, the fabricator selects the appropriate tap and taps all wholes that require threads as specified
