Director of Engineering & Maintenance
Grosfillex North America, a global leader in commercial furniture manufacturing, is seeking a hands-on and forward-thinking Director of Technical Operations to lead Engineering, Facilities, Maintenance, and Environmental Health & Safety across their Pennsylvania manufacturing campuses. This role involves providing technical leadership, overseeing manufacturing process design, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations while fostering a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities
Lead and actively support Engineering, Facilities, Maintenance, and EH&S teams across multiple buildings and two campuses
Stay closely connected to day-to-day operations, troubleshooting issues, supporting the floor, and driving practical solutions
Ensure facility reliability, equipment uptime, and safe, compliant operations
Oversee manufacturing process design, optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives
Support New Product Development (NPD), ensuring manufacturability, cost effectiveness, and timely execution
Lead engineering change management, technical documentation, and compliance requirements
Direct preventive and corrective maintenance programs for production equipment and facilities
Lead capital projects including equipment upgrades, facility improvements, and infrastructure investments
Ensure compliance with EH&S regulations while promoting a strong, proactive safety culture
Partner closely with Operations, Production, Quality, Sales, and Finance to align technical efforts with business needs
Contribute to capital planning, budgeting, and longer-term technical strategy
Identify and implement improvements that support growth, efficiency, and reliability
Lead, mentor, and develop engineering and maintenance teams through a collaborative, approachable leadership style
Foster accountability, engagement, and continuous learning within your teams
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
7+ years of progressive experience in engineering, facilities, maintenance, or technical operations within a manufacturing environment
Proven ability to lead people while remaining hands-on and engaged in the work
Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, automated equipment, and facility systems
Working knowledge of EH&S standards and regulatory compliance in a manufacturing setting
Experience managing projects, budgets, and capital initiatives
Clear communicator with a practical, solution-oriented mindset
Comfortable working in a smaller organization where priorities can shift and flexibility is valued
