COMPUTER TECHNICIAN - PART TIME
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking a Part-Time Computer Technician to support their HRIS team. The role involves providing hands-on technical support for hardware, software, and network-related functions while maintaining a secure technology environment.

Responsibilities
Install, configure, and support department computer hardware and software programs
Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of computer systems and peripheral equipment
Provide day-to-day technical support for local area network operations and assist with basic networking functions
Manage HR shared Active Directory (AD) domains and user access
Provide data entry support and assist with departmental database management
Partner with internal departments to resolve networking and application issues affecting end users
Support department technology initiatives and operational improvements as needed
Foster an environment of heightened information security in accordance with Information Technology Security Policies
Participate in required annual security and compliance training, including but not limited to: HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act)
Qualification
Required
Associate's degree in Computer Science or a related field required
An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience

Have demonstrated experience in a similar computer technician or IT support role
Be self-managed, proactive, and solution-oriented
Anticipate, identify, and resolve technical issues efficiently
Be willing to go above and beyond in support of departmental and institutional goals
Contribute positively to a collaborative team environment and play an essential role in UAB HR's continued advancement
