3+ years expEnvirocon is looking for a Health and Safety Officer (HSO) to join their team for a project in Gallup, NM. This role is critical in implementing and maintaining the health and safety program in compliance with OSHA standards and client requirements, while promoting a strong safety culture across the project team.

Responsibilities
Implement the site-specific Health and Safety Plan (HASP) and ensure compliance with client and company safety programs
Train personnel—including new hires, subcontractors, vendors, and visitors—on site safety requirements
Act as a mentor and promote a strong safety culture across the project team
Conduct Job Safety Analysis (JSA) reviews and coordinate hazard identification and control measures
Maintain accurate documentation of safety activities, inspections, and training
Perform ongoing site safety inspections and serve as the competent person per HAZWOPER standards
Collaborate with project managers and senior safety personnel on technical safety functions
Assign PPE according to HASP, JSAs, and the Respiratory Protection Program
Support incident investigations and ensure compliance with safety policies
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required

Excellent written communication and documentation skills
Proficiency with computers and safety-related software
Ability to communicate effectively with clients and subcontractors
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and committed to professional growth
Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally to the project site
High school diploma with specialized safety training or a bachelor's degree in a related field (preferred)
Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
Local travel to the project site required
Preferred
CPR/First Aid certification
OSHA 501 certification
Professional safety certifications (GSP, ASP, CSP, CHST, CIH)
Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)
