Deputy Fleet Management Director
NEOGOV is seeking a Deputy Fleet Management Director for the City of Albany, Georgia. This role is responsible for leadership and management of the City's fleet administration programs, including the acquisition, maintenance, and repair of city-owned vehicles and equipment.

Responsibilities
Plans, directs, and coordinates the daily operations and staff of the Fleet Management Department
Coordinates the daily maintenance and repair of City owned vehicles, including cars, trucks, road construction and other specialized equipment
Through creative thinking, support City-wide goals and missions with program development initiatives and quality and productivity improvements. Provides support for technical issues encountered with proper tools or training
Responsible for subordinates adhering to City policies and procedures, rules, and regulations
Evaluates the maintenance shop work methods and procedures to establish safety precautions against occupational hazards
Establishes and maintains vehicle operating and maintenance cost records and evaluates this information for the purpose of recommending vehicle disposal and replacement
Determines inventory levels for materials, parts, and supplies
Oversees the procurement of fuel, materials, parts, and supplies; expedites shipments
Responsible for the hire, transfer, promotion, and grievance resolution or discipline of employees
Prepares reports, correspondence, and agenda items
Attends and participates in conferences and meetings of department heads, the City Commission, and others
Directs the preparation and administration of the operating and capital budgets of the department
Makes procedural and operational recommendations to the City Manager
Maintains and promulgates necessary departmental rules and regulations in accordance with personnel rules and regulations and City policy
Ensures staff's compliance with the City's equal opportunity initiatives and related federal and state laws
Reviews hiring recommendations and approves the selection, advancement, transfer, grievance adjustment, discipline, and dismissal of departmental employees
Conducts performance appraisals and performs related work as required
Prepares and controls the departmental budget
Administers all aspects of purchasing and expenditure activities
Manages Fleet Management Superintendent, Asset Supervisor, Administrative Assistant, and the Fiscal Analyst. Responsible for the Director’s overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of administrative services and operations
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Business Management or closely related field
Five (5) years of increasingly responsible managerial experience in the fleet profession and project management
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
Skilled in Microsoft Office Suites (ie Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc) and Asset Management and Maintenance System Software
Must possess a valid Georgia Driver's License
