Reliability Engineer

This role involves analyzing transmission system reliability performance data, determining root causes of issues, and coordinating solutions to enhance reliability.

Responsibilities

Initiating actions to collect data and information required for transmission system reliability analysis
Organizing transmission reliability data to facilitate analysis of transmission system reliability
Performing formal and rigorous analysis to determine the cause(s) of transmission system events
Performing statistical analyses of transmission reliability data to identify the primary drivers adversely impacting transmission system reliability
Developing and maintaining metrics demonstrating how FE transmission system reliability compares to applicable industry standards
Recommending to management, target levels of FE transmission system reliability performance relative to industry norms
Working with Planning & Protection, Engineering and others to identify options with recommendations for projects and initiatives to improve FE transmission system reliability
Coordinating and championing transmission system reliability improvement projects through to inclusion in transmission portfolio
Developing and making presentations to leadership on status updates and/or project justifications

Required

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution is required
Minimum of 2 years of Engineering experience is required
Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must possess the ability to continue to learn and grow, work across FirstEnergy, and deliver results

Preferred

A Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Certificate is preferred
A working knowledge of electrical engineering, transmission substation equipment, transmission system protection and transmission system operations are desired
Prior experience with root cause analysis, Six Sigma and / or statistical analysis is desired
A Professional Engineering (PE) Certificate is preferred
Minimum of 3 (three) years of Engineering experience is required
Minimum of 5 (five) years of Engineering experience is required
