NEOGOV is seeking a Logistics Technician to support the Street Division of the City of Sioux Falls. The role involves coordinating materials, equipment, inventory, and logistical operations to ensure efficient delivery of street maintenance and snow and ice control services.

Responsibilities

Provide assistance and support of various departmental programs, processes, activities, and projects as assigned
Serve as primary point of contact for inventory of supplies, tools, and equipment. Enter and maintain electronic inventory records; intake and disburse inventory, parts, or other supplies and materials; and complete inventory counts and reconciliations to ensure predetermined inventory levels are accurate and up to date
Receive service requests, work orders, and enter data into proprietary software systems. Coordinate service activities with appropriate supervisor and/or work crews to effectively resolve customer issues. Reschedule activities as necessary when immediate and/or emergent demands exceed service team’s capacity or availability
Utilize appropriate software applications and web-based tools to establish predetermined reorder points, process completed requisitions and/or purchase orders, and receive and maintain counts of inventory. Provide basic user assistance as required for end users to ensure correct use of the City’s work order, procurement, and inventory applications. Implement bar code scanning whenever possible to improve efficiency and productivity
Assist users with routine questions regarding software utilization, testing of software upgrades, and enhancements; provide training assistance and support to employees related to software upgrades and operational functionality as assigned
Enter, verify, and maintain data in various software applications. Use appropriate software workflow applications to manage and share information. Maintain user account information following standard formats; complete and distribute standard software reports as assigned
Compile and generate standardized and customized system reports as assigned to ensure data is timely and accurate. Provide information to aid leadership in operational decision-making
Monitor work environment and assist leadership to identify and report maintenance needs
Assist as needed in coordinating contractors, program reports, safety training, supply management, and other related tasks
Enter service requests into work order or service portals. Accept inspection or service requests, dispatch service personnel, track work progress, and communicate status to all parties where applicable. Communicate directions or service updates to field personnel
Prepare meeting accommodations and materials, post notices/agendas and minutes, and assist with correspondence and presentations. Route documents, mail, and other materials; maintain records and supply levels for assigned area
Perform other such duties and functions as are necessary or incidental to the proper performance of this position

Required

Graduation from an accredited college, university, or vocational/technical school with an associate's degree in business administration or related technical fields with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in technical service and maintenance support with strong customer service, writing, financial, and computer skills; or any such combination of education, experience, and training as may be acceptable to the hiring authority
Ability to provide exceptional customer service
Ability to make decisions independently when required by circumstance in accordance with City and related departmental policies and procedures
Knowledge of and skill in using technology and multiple software systems
General knowledge of equipment maintenance including familiarity with equipment and vehicle terminology
Ability to draft, proof, and construct professional documents and correspondence
Ability to make mathematical computations quickly and accurately
Ability to pay close attention to detail
Possess critical thinking skills in order to troubleshoot issues and seek appropriate assistance if needed
Ability to organize, prioritize, and multitask to ensure timely completion of duties
Ability to analyze data for patterns and irregularities
Ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity of the City of Sioux Falls
Ability to take initiative and work under minimum supervision
Ability to learn and understand complex and specialized software programs
Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office products
Ability to effectively communicate orally, interpersonally, and in writing to employees, officials, and other customers
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and promote a good public image
