Financial Clearance Supervisor

US Eye is a healthcare organization seeking a Financial Clearance Supervisor to oversee Financial Clearance teams including Insurance Verification and Financial Counseling. The role is responsible for ensuring efficient workflows and compliance in financially clearing patients for services, while also managing team performance and training.

Responsibilities

Providing day to day operational support to the Financial Clearance teams and leads
Support the development and enforcement of policies and procedures, process improvement initiatives, quality assurance, and workload oversight, while ensuring that patient experience protocols are followed
Acts as a support to the Team Leads for day-to-day questions and guidance for all financial clearance functions
Lead or participate in departmental and interdepartmental process improvement work. Projects may involve departments external to Financial Clearance, working with other teams/departments to ensure that their activities and contributions align with priorities and timelines within the organization
Leads initiatives to identify gaps in training knowledge and areas for staff performance improvement, along with team leads
Oversees the team leads and team that performs the financial clearance functions and ensuring that functions are performed timely and accurately
Assists Senior Manager of Financial Clearance in developing, tracking, and monitoring production and quality measurements for financial counseling
Assists Senior Manager of Financial Clearance with developing, tracking, and reporting financial clearance KPI’s at least monthly and more frequently as needed
Develops staffing calendars and assures staffing needs are met. Implements alternative staffing plans as needs arise, taking into consideration department budgetary constraints, benchmark timelines, financial risk to the organization, performance requirements and restrictions
Assesses, pilots, and implements technology to support efficient operation of insurance verification and financial counseling, insuring workflow efficiency. Proposes procedural methods which assures effective execution of workflows and responsibilities
Monitors and manages vendor relationship for financial clearance functions
Evaluates, develops and/or updates training modules. Coordinating with Team Leads to keep accurate records of personnel training schedules as well as training checklists. Ensures training is completed timely. Identifies focus areas for competency assessments. Provides training opportunities addressing areas highlighted by these assessments
Handles patient, staff, and provider complaints as needed when work is subpar and has resulted in a negative impact to patient or provider
Maintains payer-specific fee schedules, internal protocols, and provides guidance when needed to support all financial clearance functions
Works collaboratively with Financial Clearance Team Leads on issues relating to patient registration, insurance prior authorization/verification, referrals, financial counseling, and overall financial clearance
Makes recommendations for improving workflow, technology or accountability or communication standards and protocols to avoid under or over collections in the future
Works with revenue cycle leadership, contracting, payers, and information systems to determine ways to minimize financial risk to the organization
Participates in department’s strategic plan development and execution of assigned goals. Adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and contractual obligations. Follows the principles of the Compliance Program as well as the Code of Conduct

Required

Three years of leadership, preferably supporting a physician group practice or practices
Experience in healthcare revenue cycle management
Financial analysis skills using Excel and/or database software to analyze data
Very proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

Preferred

Degree in computer information technology, business administration or a related field preferred
