Responsibilities
Oversee daily operation, maintenance, security, and performance of the College’s Learning Management System (LMS) to ensure system reliability and alignment with academic schedules
Manage LMS course shell creation, category structures, cohorts, user roles, and enrollment synchronization, including manual updates for student and instructor changes
Coordinate beginning- and end-of-semester LMS processes to ensure smooth transitions, data accuracy, and overall system readiness each term
Configure, maintain, and test LMS integrations (LTIs), plugins, instructional technologies, and third-party tools to support teaching, learning, and accessibility standards
Lead quality assurance testing for LMS updates, new features, and system patches, collaborating with the vendor and IT to ensure stability, authentication, and secure data synchronization
Provide Tier 2 LMS support to faculty, staff, and students by troubleshooting escalated issues related to access, functionality, and system performance
Monitor data integrity through operational reporting, analytics (e.g., IntelliBoard), and audits to support compliance, reporting, and data-driven decision making
Oversee LMS backups, archives, and data retention processes in accordance with state regulations and institutional data governance policies
Document system workflows, operational processes, and technical procedures to support continuity, training, and onboarding of new staff
Collaborate with Academic Technology, Information Technology, NCCCS, and campus partners to align LMS operations with institutional goals and provide training and guidance on effective use of the LMS
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Instructional Technology, Educational Technology, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution. Other education-related or technical degrees may be considered with demonstrated experience managing an LMS in higher education
Three (3) or more years of experience managing or supporting a Learning Management System (LMS) in a higher education environment
Familiarity with accessibility and compliance standards, including Title II and WCAG
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with attention to accuracy and data integrity
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to support faculty, staff, and campus partners effectively
Preferred
Extensive experience administering a major LMS (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle) in a higher education setting
Experience configuring and managing learning tool integrations (LTIs), supporting data synchronization processes (e.g., SIS, SSO), and coordinating with IT and vendors on system performance and updates
Basic understanding of learning theory, course design principles, and best practices for technology-enhanced instruction
