Sr. Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis
Virgin Galactic is an aerospace and space travel company, pioneering human spaceflight for private individuals and researchers with its advanced air and space vehicles. The Sr. Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis will lead a team responsible for providing financial support and thought partnership to business units, ensuring major projects are delivered on budget and supporting business unit strategies as the company prepares for upcoming commercial space missions.

Responsibilities
Serve as the finance Business Partner to business units, building strong relationships with department leaders
Support business unit leadership in the development of strategic plans for current and future business needs. Provide thoughtful insight on potential opportunities to evolve the organization’s needs and priorities
Create, improve, and maintain financial processes. Responsible for leading, coordinating and consolidating the business unit budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes. Includes preparation of comprehensive business reviews and updates to Executive-level audiences
Manage program financials, including the development of time-phased integrated budgets and schedules, and ongoing management of cost and schedule integration
Assist in manpower planning, forecasting and reporting activities across functions to support program resourcing needs
Provide vendor proposal and negotiation support, including financial terms and conditions and should cost analysis
Conduct purchase order and invoice reviews, approval and reconciliation against appropriate program budgets
Analyze and interpret financial data and trends to provide recommendations to improve the quality of management decisions. Implement processes to enhance cost tracking
Partner with Finance, Controllership, and IT to ensure accuracy, alignment, and efficiency of key processes and reporting tools
Ensure proper goal alignment for team and direct reports, including robust performance and development discussions
Qualification
Required
At least 10 years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, planning, and/or strategy functions, preferably within the aerospace industry
At least three years of experience managing employees
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or Accounting
A big picture view on financial analysis - ability to view the business from a broader perspective, integrating finance and business issues to develop solutions that add value to the leadership team beyond finance
Advanced proficiency in excel, including ability to perform financial modeling and quantitative analysis including business valuation, ROI and cost benefit analysis for large scale projects
Ability to meet deadlines, handle multiple priorities and perform job responsibilities accurately while working in a fast-paced and vibrant environment
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrated ability to influence partners and key business decisions
Proven ability to lead teams and build relationships
Self-starter, with natural curiosity, enthusiasm, desire to learn and ability to deal with ambiguity
Preferred
MBA is preferred
Ideally has experience with Oracle and detailed cost tracking tools
