Senior Executive Director

The NYC Administration for Children's Services (ACS) is dedicated to protecting and promoting the safety and well-being of children and families. The Senior Executive Director will develop and implement policies and training to support children and families in the child welfare system, ensuring they are connected to appropriate resources and services.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement policies, practices, and materials to ensure that children and parents that touch the child welfare system are informed and connected to appropriate resources and support services that meet their individualized needs
Develop and implement materials, trainings, and technical assistance to ensure that ACS and provider agency staff are knowledgeable of the key practice and guidance around Family Team Conferencing, Reentry, and Independent Review
Collect data that informs service needs for Crossover Youth both in the Division for Youth and Family Justice Detention and Close to Home programs as well in City, State and Federal prisons
Create innovative programming designed to bridge the gap of permanency achievement for children, teens, and families in the child welfare system
Inform agency staff on changes in conferencing, and in juvenile justice
Conduct regular conference calls
Design and provide training on best case practice and normative experiences for conference facilitators and on the Crossover Youth Practice Model (CYPM)
Organize workshops and convenings to support implementation of initiatives
Represent ACS at city and statewide foster care related meetings and conferences
Participate as a member of interagency task forces and workgroups involving older youth issues and the juvenile justice system as needed
Evaluate staff and the success of the unit
Hold monthly meetings with area of conferencing and youth justice to discuss key practice issues/concerns
Implement and train on policy for Case Conferencing and Newly Identified Children

Required

Permanent (not provisional) in the Administrative Director of Social Services title
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
Four years of progressively responsible experience in a large governmental agency, business firm, civic or community organization operating in the area of social services, including one year at the administrative or managerial level
Education and/or experience equivalent to the above, with specific substitutions for graduate education or licenses as outlined in the job description
All candidates must have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and one year of experience at the administrative or management level

Preferred

In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to search the Internet for requested topics and resources
Ability to use CNNX and LTS
Flexibility and an open mind
