Research Technician

Responsibilities

Assists and supports scientific investigation to study Multiple myeloma cells as directed; independently conducts assigned experiments; performs a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, assays, cell cultures and Northern and Western analysis; tests and evaluates current procedures and provides feedback to research team; oversees and maintains accurate records of laboratory activities
Records, consolidates and assists with analysis of research results; assists in evaluating validity of data obtained from experimental procedures; summarizes data for inclusion in grant proposals, manuscripts and professional presentations; prepares research progress reports; assists principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts; conducts library research on requested topics through researching current literature
Assists with training of junior research staff, and undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation; sets up and operates laboratory equipment; monitors research supply, including specimens, inventory and initiates procurement requests as needed; other duties as assigned
Provides updates to PI on progress of research; oversees and coordinates periodic maintenance and testing of laboratory equipment; performs additional duties as assigned

Required

A Bachelors degree in a biological/health science or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required
Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required
Requires successful completion of a background check
Qualified candidates may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen
