Automation Controls Engineer
BW Papersystems, part of the Barry-Wehmiller Group, builds capital equipment that transforms paper into products for consumers. They are seeking an experienced Automation Controls Engineer responsible for developing and maintaining control system software for industrial machinery, implementing control algorithms, and interfacing with customers.

Responsibilities
Design, implement, and troubleshoot control algorithms and machine-based software systems
Develop and maintain programs that support machine operation, data collection, diagnostics, and communication with peripheral equipment
Collaborate with sales, service, and engineering teams to define technical and functional specifications
Support machine checkout, installation, and commissioning by providing control system software documentation and assistance
Interface directly with customers to resolve software-related issues and ensure systems meet expectations
Produce and update operation manuals, diagnostic guides, and technical documentation
Stay current with evolving control system architectures and technology trends
Mentor and support less experienced engineers as needed
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
5+ years of experience in industrial controls development; manufacturing environment experience preferred
Proficient in PLC programming (e.g., Allen Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff, B&R)
Strong understanding of control theory and its application
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings
Preferred
Experience with assembly-level languages, Visual C++, and other high-level programming languages is a plus
HMI application programming knowledge is a plus
