Correspondence Controller
USAJOBS is seeking a Correspondence Controller to join the Washington Headquarters Services (WHS), Executive Services Directorate (ESD). The role involves providing critical administrative support and executive staff assistance to high-level officials within the Department of Defense.

Responsibilities
Establishes procedures for controlling and tasking action assignments of a wide variety of incoming unclassified correspondence
Functions as an authoritative source of guidance to OSD personnel and action officers regarding editorial principles and procedures
Performs Correspondence and Task Management System (CATMS) database updates and searches
Conducts editorial review and dispatch of outgoing correspondence signed by the Secretary of Defense, Deputy Secretary of Defense and the DoD Executive Secretary
Executes suspense management and document control procedures

Required
U.S. Citizenship is required
Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service
May be required to successfully complete a probationary/trial period
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Required to participate in the direct deposit program
This position is subject to pre-employment and random drug testing
Selections from this notice are subject to provisions of the DOD Priority Placement Program for displaced employees
The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance
A Special Background Investigation (SBI) is required with favorable adjudication by a determining authority
This position may require up to 10% occasional travel away from your normal duty station for official business on military or commercial aircraft
The incumbent may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays and/or overtime
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates your ability to: 1. Receive and review all types and levels for tasking assignment to the appropriate action office for response; and 2. Review correspondence for formatting and grammatical accuracy; and 3. Operate an electronic task management tracking system; and 4. Assist with managing suspense dates and changes to task assignments
Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates your ability to: 1. Utilize correspondence and/or task management systems to analyze all types and levels of correspondence for tasking and data entry to the appropriate action office for response; and 2. Review and edit correspondence in accordance with established policies and procedures; and 3. Utilize administrative policies, programs, and procedures to effectively provide advice, guidance, and assistance to customers and executive/senior level leadership; and 4. Manage suspense dates and changes to task assignments
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be used to meet the total qualification requirements
