Mechanical Engineer L3
NTT Global Data Centers is a leader in business and technology services, dedicated to innovation and client success. They are seeking a Mechanical Engineer L3 to lead mechanical engineering projects, provide mentorship, and drive improvements in data center infrastructure. This role involves collaboration across teams, technical direction, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Responsibilities
Lead and oversee complex mechanical engineering projects nationwide, from concept to execution, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations
Utilizes engineering assessment, judgment, and analysis to choose the most appropriate course of action
Provides technical direction and mentorship to mid-level and entry-level mechanical engineers, fostering their professional growth and development
Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the nation to drive continuous improvement and innovation for data center infrastructure and mechanical systems
Utilize a diverse array of data sources, information channels, and tools (including BMS, EPMS, equipment submittals, design drawings, CFD software, etc.) to address intricate challenges impacting data center equipment and systems, such as CRAHs, CRACs, Chillers, AHUs, MAUs, and humidifiers
As the mechanical systems subject matter expert, demonstrates proficiency in applying the Sequence of Operations (SOO) in both typical and atypical operational contexts
Assess client expansions and sales opportunities to guarantee that the standard data center design aligns with contractual mechanical specifications, encompassing IT load densities, cooling requirements, deployment layout, airflow balance, and service level agreements (SLAs)
Gather energy efficiency data, analyze trends to evaluate the impact of implemented measures, and provide recommendations for future actions. Set efficiency targets and key performance indicators (KPIs) for data center equipment and systems
Possess a thorough understanding of relevant HVAC and mechanical standards, such as ASHRAE, ASME, and Uptime, and their practical application to data center operations. Remain actively engaged in emerging trends and best practices pertaining to mechanical systems and data center operations
Provide Tier 2 support for urgent mechanical issues during emergency situations and provide technical support for on-site operations as needed. Additionally, offer technical supervision for the Change Advisory Board (CAB) to minimize customer impacts
Produce and present technical reports and updates to senior management (and occasionally clients), aiming to effectively communicate complex technical details. These reports offer insights into the normal and abnormal states of our mechanical infrastructure, ensuring a thorough understanding
Occasionally, travel to the data centers to address specific technical challenges to support the local operations team
