Responsibilities
Report Development: Design, develop, and modify reports using Crystal Reports and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), adhering to existing standards and documentation
Report Migration: Plan and execute the migration of Crystal Reports to SSRS, which may involve analyzing existing reports, recreating datasets and data sources in SSRS, and building the report layouts
SQL Development: Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions to extract and manipulate data for reporting purposes
Report Optimization: Identify opportunities to enhance report performance and efficiency, potentially by analyzing data, optimizing queries, and leveraging features within both tools
Testing and Quality Assurance: Perform testing of developed reports to ensure accuracy, data integrity, and compliance with specifications and the established branding guidelines for the City of Kansas City, Missouri
Troubleshooting and Support: Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to existing reports and report delivery
Documentation: Maintain documentation related to report structures, data sources, processes, and any modifications or changes

Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to existing reports and report delivery
Maintain documentation related to report structures, data sources, processes, and any modifications or changes
Expertise in developing reports, including creating complex reports, utilizing data structures, and applying reporting principles
Strong knowledge and experience with SSRS, including creating reports, charts, and graphs
Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions; experience with query optimization is beneficial
Strong understanding of relational database concepts, design, and data modeling
Strong analytical skills for interpreting data and translating business needs into effective reports
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with stakeholders and documenting report details
Ability to identify and resolve issues related to data and report development
Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy and data integrity in reports
Ability to work effectively within a team environment and collaborate with others
Proven work experience (typically 2-5 years or more) in report development, with significant experience in both Crystal Reports and SSRS
The contractor will complete at least twenty (20) reports per month
A Monthly Milestone and Performance Review session will be conducted to ensure contractor is meeting the report completion metric
If the performance metric is not being met by the contractor, we reserve the right to implement early termination of the contract
