Laboratory Technician
FoodChain ID is seeking a Laboratory Technician I to execute daily business operations in the Sample Preparation laboratory. The role involves prioritizing and preparing customer samples for analytical testing and ensuring accurate delivery of test results in alignment with quality system requirements.

Responsibilities
Prioritize and prepare/process all customer samples for analytical testing according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
Basic understanding of testing requirements and concepts
Basic knowledge of column chromatography cleanup on oils, extracted tissue fats and other matrices used in various pesticide and organic compound screens
Responsible for oils, tissue fat, feed, wheat, produce and various matrices extractions
To perform inventory and assist with consumable stocking (able to lift 50lbs)
Maintaining residue lab in a neat, clean, and orderly manner
Perform daily QC checks of balance, solvent dispensers, micro-pipettes and calibrate them weekly or when necessary
Cleaning glassware, solvent disposal, and reagent preparation
Maintain accurate records for traceability through LIMS
Prepare essential laboratory reagents
Responsible for calibration and verification of specific equipment and their accompanying records
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a scientific field
Interpersonal/Communication Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; clear, organized, detail-oriented

Able to establish and maintain effective work relationships in a team-based environment

Highly organized with exceptional diligence

Technology Literacy
Proficiency with operation of desktop computers
LIMS, MS Excel, Outlook
Competencies – Following 30 day shadow training
Pass at least 1 of the following test batches for at least 3 organic preparation methods in at least 2 laboratory matrices: 1 PT (External or Internal), IDOC – Blank and 4 laboratory control samples (blank spikes)
Language Skills
Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Mathematical Skills
Ability to acquire and analyze results from various laboratory instruments and prepare analytical reports
Reasoning Ability
Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

The employee is required to sit with repetitive motions of the hands and wrist related to writing and typing at a desktop or mobile keyboard
Specific vision conditions include close vision reading
It requires the ability to operate a computer and phone
Employees must have reliable transportation

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally is occasionally exposed to hazardous material, fumes, or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals
Work is performed primarily indoors in an office and/or laboratory setting
The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate
The employee will be required to wear all appropriate safety equipment including lab coat and gloves
The employee will operate equipment properly as described in the owner's manual and according to SOP specifications
Position Type and Expected Working Hours
Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m

The employee may be required to travel
