Mid LevelVirginia's Community College System is seeking a Legislative Analyst to assist in recommending and responding to policies, procedures, legislation, and regulations. This role involves gathering and presenting legislative information, analyzing proposed legislation, and maintaining tracking systems to support the agency's understanding of legislative proposals.

Responsibilities
Plan and implement a program of comprehensive analytical communications
Assist the Associate Vice Chancellor for Governmental Relations in recommending and responding to policies, procedures, legislation and regulations
Work with the Associate Vice Chancellor, the Chancellors Cabinet, college legislative officers and presidents in gathering and presenting legislative information
Independently seek out information on legislation proposed at the state level
Determine if proposed legislation impacts Virginias Community Colleges
Analyze and track legislation, maintaining committee calendars and bill lists
Conduct research as necessary to enhance the agency's understanding of legislative and policy proposals
Present results of legislative tracking as frequently as necessary
Assist the Associate Vice Chancellor in developing an expanded program of federal legislative tracking
Qualification
Required
Experience in legislative analysis and tracking legislation
Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including governmental agencies and legislative bodies
Strong analytical skills to assess the impact of proposed legislation on Virginias Community Colleges
Experience in gathering and presenting legislative information
Ability to work independently and seek out relevant information
Experience in maintaining committee calendars and bill lists
Research skills to enhance understanding of legislative and policy proposals
