Responsibilities

Providing and monitoring residential program services
Advising residents how to use appropriate coping and living skills to assist in their recovery
Reviewing and coordinating resident admission and discharge planning program
Scheduling resident activities and supervision to ensure appropriate staffing levels are met

Required

5 years of experience working with individuals diagnosed with mental illness
An associate degree may substitute for two years of experience
A bachelor's degree may substitute for four years of experience
A master's degree may substitute for five years of experience
A doctorate may substitute for six years of experience
Candidates must be reachable on the current Residential Program Specialist eligible list
Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law
Permanent appointment may be made by non-competitive promotion of an applicant who meets the position's minimum qualifications if all requirements of non-competitive promotion are met
Candidates must have 1 year of permanent service as a Residential Program Assistant 2 including all language parenthetics
