The role involves optimizing major stories for social platforms and producing engaging content across various channels while maintaining strong editorial judgment in breaking news situations.

Responsibilities

Cover social media for three of our Owned and Operated stations – Boston, New York and Colorado

Produce and edit videos that will engage audiences on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X and Snapchat

Utilize in-platform tools and features to create content that is authentic to the audiences on those platforms

Identify the most newsworthy and shareable moments within larger news events, press conferences, interviews, articles and television segments

Field content from anchors and correspondents in the field, and craft those assets into original social packages

Write language for captions and titles that is concise, shareable, yet fully in context and in line with the CBS News brand

Contribute to the continued growth of the accounts, including metrics like followers, video views and engagement

Work newsroom hours, which may include nights, weekends and holidays

Be fast and responsive when news breaks
