Interior Designer
Career Collective is seeking a creative and detail-driven Interior Designer with 10 to 15 years of professional experience. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively across various project types, bringing design sensibility and technical expertise to educational, civic, and institutional environments.
Responsibilities
Bring both design sensibility and technical expertise, working collaboratively across project types including educational, civic, and institutional environments
Manage interiors from concept through construction documentation
Demonstrate experience with finish and material selection, furniture and fixture coordination (FF&E), lighting design integration, code compliance, accessibility, and life safety standards
Prepare presentations, specifications, and construction documentation
Coordinate with architects and consultants
Qualification
Required
10 to 15 years of professional experience
Strong background in design fundamentals, space planning, and environmental psychology
NCIDQ certification
Registered Interior Designer in North Carolina (or eligible for reciprocity)
Professional experience in interior design and interior architecture, ideally within architecture firms or multidisciplinary environments
Proven ability to manage interiors from concept through construction documentation
Demonstrated experience with finish and material selection
Demonstrated experience with furniture and fixture coordination (FF&E)
Demonstrated experience with lighting design integration
Demonstrated experience with code compliance, accessibility, and life safety standards
Skilled in Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite
Experience preparing presentations, specifications, and construction documentation
Strong understanding of project workflows and coordination with architects and consultants
Excellent communication and organizational skills — comfortable presenting to clients and leading discussions
Collaborative team player who thrives in a small-firm environment with cross-disciplinary teamwork
Passionate about designing spaces that support learning, community, and well-being
Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining design quality and consistency
Active Professional Association (IIDA, ASID) involvement is encouraged
Preferred
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture from a CIDA accredited program
LEED AP or WELL AP certification
Familiarity with SketchUp, Enscape, or Lumion
