Responsibilities
Design and document end-to-end application architectures using Microsoft .NET technologies
Define and recommend solution patterns such as monolithic, modular monolith, microservices, and event-driven architectures
Establish architectural standards, reference architectures, and design guidelines
Evaluate and recommend technology stacks, tools, and frameworks
Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to development teams
Review code, pull requests, and design artifacts to ensure architectural compliance
Ensure adherence to SOLID principles, clean architecture, and best practices
Support CI/CD integration and deployment strategies
Assess existing applications and recommend modernization and refactoring approaches
Guide legacy migrations (e.g., JCL/COBOL/FOCUS to .NET)
Identify, prioritize, and address technical debt remediation
Support refactoring initiatives with minimal business disruption
Produce and maintain architecture diagrams, technical documentation, and ADRs
Document design decisions, trade-offs, and system dependencies
Support onboarding, mentoring, and knowledge transfer to internal technical teams
Participate in architecture reviews, governance forums, and design discussions
Analyze and document existing systems, technical assets, and business rules
Assist with debugging, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
Coordinate with business analysts, developers, and product owners during modernization efforts
Support remediation and upgrades related to the state-wide accounting system
Perform and participate in code and design reviews to ensure performance and quality
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
Equivalent work experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis
Minimum 7 years of experience across multiple IT domains
2–3 years of hands-on experience in Application / Solution Architecture
Advanced to expert-level knowledge in architecture, application systems design, and system integration, specifically within the Microsoft .NET ecosystem
Preferred
C# / ASP.NET Core
RESTful Web APIs
Entity Framework or other ORM frameworks
.NET Framework and Modern .NET (.NET 6+)
Microsoft Azure
CI/CD Pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, etc.)
Front-end JavaScript frameworks (Angular, React, Vue, etc.)
