Responsibilities

Acting as the primary clinical coding subject matter expert and trusted resource for coding guidance
Providing education and support to providers on clinical coding standards and documentation best practices
Leading and coordinating a cross-functional Coding Workgroup to drive consistency, quality, and alignment

Required

Extensive experience in clinical coding and provider documentation education
Current RHIA and CCS certifications
Proven involvement in developing or supporting Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) initiatives
Ability to clearly explain complex coding and regulatory concepts to varied audiences
Strong auditing knowledge with exceptional attention to detail
Experience leading or facilitating cross-functional workgroups
Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems across all sites of service
Training principles and instructional content development
The connection between diagnosis documentation and risk adjustment reimbursement models
CMS HCC Risk Adjustment methodology and its impact on value-based contracts
Internal auditing standards and practices
EMR coding and documentation standards
Medicare and Medi-Cal coding policies
Audit preparation and response processes
Project management fundamentals
Ability to serve as a technical expert and clearly interpret policies, regulations, and procedures
Make final determinations on clinical code assignments
Research, analyze, and present data-driven findings and recommendations
Manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
Facilitate meetings, deliver presentations, and lead workgroups
Develop training materials and conduct internal and external education sessions
Build effective relationships and communicate confidently with stakeholders at all levels
Current Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification (AHIMA)
Current Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC) certification (AAPC)
Bachelor's degree in Healthcare, Business, Nursing, or a related field
Minimum of eight years of professional experience, including at least eight years of risk adjustment coding experience, including provider education
