Optomi is partnering with a premier client in the energy industry to seek a Design Thinking Strategist for their Enterprise Innovation team based in Charlotte, NC. The role involves acting as an internal consultant to solve complex challenges using human-centered design while collaborating with senior business leaders and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

Serve as a strategic design thinking consultant for internal clients, acting as a central point of contact across multiple initiatives

Lead and facilitate design thinking workshops to frame problems, define value, and align stakeholders

Apply human-centered design methods including research, synthesis, opportunity prioritization, assumption mapping, light prototyping, and storytelling

Combine design thinking with strong business awareness, understanding product value, sales cycles, and organizational dynamics

Partner closely with product, design, agile, change management, and technology teams to drive outcomes

Support and influence AI-driven initiatives, including improving processes and contributing to AI-enabled products

Manage stakeholder relationships and communicate outcomes clearly through compelling narratives

Operate effectively in dynamic, fast-moving environments while balancing multiple complex workstreams

Required

A diverse background spanning UX, consulting, and business or finance-oriented environments

Prior agency or consulting experience, with comfort operating in ambiguity

Strong facilitation, communication, and human-centered design expertise

A business-oriented mindset with the ability to connect design outcomes to measurable value

Experience supporting AI products or implementing AI-driven process improvements

Proven adaptability in dynamic, evolving organizations

Excellent stakeholder management and storytelling skills

Experience leading teams through the full design thinking lifecycle

Preferred

Prior experience or exposure to the energy industry

Experience operating as part of an internal consultancy model

Strong collaborative mindset across interdisciplinary teams
