Quality Technician - Illinois

Responsibilities
Witness the receiving of gensets at the enclosure vendors to inspect for transport damage or other quality concerns
Conduct periodic storage audits per defined schedule to inspect for packaging damage, units approaching preservation milestones or quality concerns
Conduct product audits on gensets prior to production in the enclosure vendor operations to inspect for quality non-conformances
Perform final product audits. This includes visual inspections using a Quality checklist
Complete and submit customer inspection documentation
Create Quality Notifications in SAP to record non-conformances and assign actions to respective departments
Confirm implementation of enclosure vendor 8D investigations and corrective action process improvements from issues found in the field
Provide data in support of 8D investigation, completion, and any other investigations not tied to 8Ds
Provide data in support of continuous improvement projects and/or supplier development
Coordinate receipt, storage and utilization of ship-short loose parts
Carry out minor reworks and repairs where gensets are found to be non-conforming. “Minor rework” is defined as rework that can be carried out using the hand tools and production work instructions that are available. Repairs requiring additional support are to be reported for escalation
Provide accurate and timely data to management regarding quality concerns
Keep management abreast of progress, developments, and pending problems
Promote a compliance culture in area of responsibility and live the letter and the spirit of the Rolls-Royce Code of Conduct
Perform special projects as required
Qualification
Required
Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S without sponsorship. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time
2 years in a mechanical, engine or automotive trade school or equivalent associate degree and 2 years of quality inspection experience in a durable goods assembly or manufacturing environment; or 5 years of quality inspection experience in a durable goods assembly or manufacturing environment
Preferred
Experience in the use of hand tools, torque wrenches
Ability to follow instructions to identify non-conformances
Ability to read drawings and specifications (mechanical and electrical)
Strong knowledge of parts and equipment in a manufacturing environment with large equipment
Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface effectively at all levels of the organization
Good written and verbal communication skills
Basic knowledge of using measuring equipment
Proficient with PC and MS Office Suite
Familiar with plant operations and equipment
Knowledge of RRPS components and products
Knowledge of gauge and test equipment
Knowledge of RRPS components and products
